A week ago, we arrived in Montreal and went right to work on an exciting new project.
This time, we’re going to be a part of Cirque du Soleil at Sea aboard the MSC Bellissima. During our 6 months on the cruise we will start in Dubai, travel through southeast Asia, and end up in Japan. We’ll perform close to 300 shows from March to September!
Our roles this time are going to be a bit different. Performing on dance trapeze, Adrienne will play the lead character in Varélia, who is a princess born with purple skin and rejected by her peers, only to fall in love with a blind hero who loves her for who she is rather than what she looks like. In Syma, she will understudy the lead role on aerial pole, as a sailor who gets shipwrecked but lands on a fantastic island full of characters who are not from this world. Paul will take on the challenge of being the show coach. While it isn’t new for him to coach circus artists (especially considering he has been acting both as coach and performer for our duo trapeze act), this will be his first official role where he will have the exclusive task of managing a cast of 16 performers, all doing different skills and with different goals for their training onboard.
Here’s a short trailer about both shows:
This is an amazing opportunity for us to hone our other skills while taking a short break from performing together. We’ll be back to work on duo trapeze as The Owl & The Pussycat starting in September 2020.
